Tarlac City held its local elections on May 9, 2016 within the Philippine general election. The voters elected candidates for mayor, vice mayor, and ten councilors. Incumbent 2nd district board member Cristy Angeles became the first female mayor of Tarlac City after defeating Manchoy Manalang (son of incumbent Mayor Ace Manalang, who unsuccessfully ran for the governorship post).[1] In the vice-mayoral race, incumbent Vice-Mayor Anne Belmonte was defeated by former Mayor Aro Mendoza, who also endorsed Cristy Angeles for Mayor.

Results

The candidates for mayor and vice mayor with the highest amount of votes wins the seat; they are voted separately, therefore, they may be of different parties when elected.[2]
