Weishan Township (simplified Chinese: 沩山乡; traditional Chinese: 溈山鄉; pinyin: Wéishān Xiāng) is a rural township in Ningxiang County, Changsha City, Hunan Province, People's Republic of China. It's surrounded by Dafu Town and Songmutang Town on the northwest, Huangcai Town on the northeast, and Xiangzikou Town on the south. As of the 2000 census it had a population of 14,532 and an area of 42.8 square kilometres (16.5 sq mi).
Administrative division
The township is divided into ten villages: Bajiaoxi Village (八角溪村), Wishan Village (沩山村), Weiqing Village (沩清村), Weiyuan Village (沩源村), Xiyuan Village (西元村), Tongqing Village (同庆村), Zuta Village (祖塔村), Huixinqiao Village (回心桥村) and Shuanglongtan Village (双龙潭村).
Geography
The Xiaolongtan Reservoir (小龙潭水库) is located in the town and discharges into the Wei River.[1]
Economy
The local people grow industrial crops including tobacco, Tea, peach, Weishan Maojian, tofu, fish, silicon and capsicum annuum, which are important to the local economy.[1]
The region abounds with iron.[1]
Culture
Huaguxi is the most influential form of local theater.
Attractions
Miyin Temple, was built in 813 on Wei Mountain by Lingyou, in the eighth year of the Yuanhe era of Emperor Xianzong. It is a well known temple in China. The Wei Mountain is also ascenic spot in the town and has water sports such as fishing, boating, and rafting.[1]
