Liushahe Town (simplified Chinese: 流沙河镇; traditional Chinese: 流沙河鎮; pinyin: Liúshāhé Zhèn) is an urban town in Ningxiang County, Changsha City, Hunan Province, China. It is surrounded by Qingshanqiao Town on the west, Huangcai Town and Shatian Township on the north, Laoliangcang Town and Fengmuqiao Township on the east, and Fanjiang Town on the south. As of the 2007 census it had a population of 68,780 and an area of 140.57 square kilometres (54.27 sq mi).
Administrative division
The town is divided into eighteen villages and two communities: Liushahe Community (流沙河社区), Helin Community (荷林社区), Hongmei Village (红梅村), Shiqi Village (石奇村), Hexing Village (合兴村), Hongtang Village (洪塘村), Waziping Village (瓦子坪村), Changsheng Village (长盛村), Qingjiang Village (清江村), Fusi Village (罘罳村), Datianfang Village (大田方村), Malian Village (码联村), Chixin Village (赤新村), Gaoshan Village (高山村), Gaohua Village (高华村), Lianhua Village (莲花村), Shanlin Street Village (山林街村), Caochong Village (草冲村), Fuchong Village (扶冲村) and Sujiating Village (苏家亭村).
Geography
Qiguan Reservoir (奇观水库) is located in the town, run into the Wei River.
Chu River is known as "Liushahe", a tributary of the Wei River, it flows through the town.[1]
The Fusi Mountain is a scenic spot in the town.
Economy
The mountains in the town contains a rich supply of granite.[1]
Citrus, peach, prunus mume and tobacco are important to the economy.[1]
Education
There is one senior high school located with the town limits: Ningxiang County Seventh Senior High School (宁乡七中). Public junior high schools in the town include the Liushahe Junior High School (流沙河中学).
Culture
Huaguxi is the most influence local theater.
Transportation
Major highways that connect Liushahe Town to the rest of Hunan Province include the S209, which runs south through Qingshanqiao Town to Hutian Town and north to Laoliangcang Town. The Louyiheng Highway (娄益衡高速公路) in Hunan Province leads to Loudi City, Yiyang City and Hengyang City through the town. The 1810 Provincial Highway (1810省道) from Yutan Subdistrict runs through Shuangfupu Town, Hengshi Town, Laoliangcang Town, Liushahe Town, Qingshanqiao Town to Loudi City.[1]
The Luoyang–Zhanjiang Railway, from Luoyang City, Henan Province to Zhanjiang City, Guangdong Province runs through the town.[1]
Attractions
There are local specialties including Ningxiang Pig (宁乡猪), Shatian Shaddocks (沙田柚), Castanea mollissima and kumquats.[1]
Jinfeng Temple (金凤禅院) is a Buddhist temple on Fusi Mountain. It was built during the Yuan dynasty (1271–1368) and later destroyed and rebuilt several times.
