W is the fourth studio album by Brazilian recording artist Wanessa, released on August 1, 2005.^[2][3] Differently of her previous albums, more of Wanessa distanced herself from romantic music on this album to try new styles.^[4] She also gave herself more in the production of this album, writing letters of eleven of the 15 songs on the album and the melody of a song.^[5]

Despite lower sales compared to other albums, W was the most favorite album of the fans and had all her successful work songs on the radio, and the tour based on the album, W in Tour... Era Uma Vez, was very successful in Brazil in 2006 and was continued in the United States and Europe in 2007.^[6][7] The song "Não Reisto á Nós Dois" reached an excellent position on the radio and was also the theme of the soap opera, Bang Bang, from the Brazilian channel Rede Globo.^[8]

It was Wanessa's album who received more positive reviews so far, considering it mature, intelligent and great.^[9] The music "Amor Amor" became a huge hit, reaching the top of the Billboard Hot 100 Brazil.^[10]

"Amor, Amor" was served as the first single from the W on June 11, 2005 and was a commercial success and critical, charts within the top ten of all Latin amaerica.^[11] The second single "Não Resisto a Nós Dois" was released on January 10, 2006, and peaked at number 13 in Argentina, Brazil and Peru. It was followed by promotional singles "Louca" and "Meu Menino" shortly before the album's release.^[12]

History

Despite lower sales (about 60,000 copies) for the other CD, W' is one of the favorite albums of fans and had all their work successful songs on the radio, and the tour based on this album, W In Tour - Era Uma Vez..., was very successful in Brazil in 2006. the album featured production from Apollo 9, DJ Zegon, Cesar Lemos and Jason Deere.^[13][14] It is the copyright disk Wanessa, writing 11 letters of the 15 songs. It was her album received positive reviews more today, considering the mature, intelligent and great.^[15]

The first single "Amor, Amor" not performed well at the time of its release, but over the years has become the trademark of Wanessa, being re-released as a single in 2012 in a remixed version and also with the participation of the singer Preta Gil in the live version, making it the theme of "Amor a Vida" novel of Rede Globo. The video shows Wanessa dancing in a theater.^[16][17] The song chosen as the second single was "Não Resisto a Nós Dois" which achieved an excellent position on the radio and was also the subject of the novel Bang Bang of Globo.^[18] The video was quite successful and in it we see Wanessa in a playful universe, thinking about love. The choice for the third single was "Louca" range, the dissemination of music was average and is only single CD in which no recorded video clip, through a campaign on its official website fans could ask the music on the radio.^[19]

Rumors at the time they realized that the song "Era uma Vez" (one of his biographical letters) would be crafted as a single room W, yet the song featured a few times on television.^[20] The album featured a thunderous disclosure, including commercial insertions in SBT and MTV presenting the "new Wanessa", and launch in several premium programs as Domingão Faustão, Domingo Legal and Altas Horas.^[21][22] Sales leveraged even after the success of "Não Resisto a Nós Dois" that made Sony Music influence the style in which Wanessa return to take on his next album, Total (2007), focusing on the most romantic songs.^[23]

Initial reviews for W have been mixed. The Washington Post's Alison Stewart offered a negative view on the project, writing that Wanessa "began a bad year with a bad record." In his written evaluation to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Piet Levy wrote that Campbell is "less an anxious child than an adult" in this new project, although when Wanessa flat come-ons are juxtaposed with experienced R&B of course as an interpreter, he still has a lot of growing to do.^[26] Pop portal commenter found the genres of the album strange according stating that "Wanessa had outdone himself this time."^[27]

already critical Manoel Grachi found the excellent album of others who did wanessa saying: "You can see she grew a lot in this last record, although the songs are alternative versions to liguagem her, she demonstrated that knows how to do it well"He said the commentator, other critics of contemporary music found a poor mix of genres, saying Wanessa not used the Latin genres.^[28][29]
