Varaldsøy Church (Norwegian: Varaldsøy kyrkje) is a parish church in Kvinnherad municipality in Hordaland county, Norway. It is located on the island of Varaldsøy. The church is part of the Varaldsøy parish in the Sunnhordland deanery in the Diocese of Bjørgvin. The white, wooden church was built in 1885 by the architects Conrad Fredrik von der Lippe and Hans Heinrich Jess. The church, which seats about 390 people, was consecrated on 25 November 1885 by the Bishop Waldemar Hvoslef.[1][2]

History

There has been a church on Varaldsøy since the Middle Ages. It is first found in historical records in 1337, and it was not new at that time. In 1729, the old stave church was torn down and replaced by a new church on the same site. That church was torn down and replaced by the present church in 1885.[3]
