"Woman, Woman" is a hit song written by Jim Glaser and Jimmy Payne, recorded by Gary Puckett & The Union Gap using session musicians from The Wrecking Crew[1] for their 1968 debut album, Woman, Woman.[2] It went to #3 in Cash Box and #4 on The Billboard Hot 100 in early 1968.[3]
The band recorded the song in August 1967.[4] This was the group's debut single. It was certified as a million-selling Gold disc in February 1968.[5] The B-side was a cover of the Tim Hardin song, "Don't Make Promises."
An international success, the song went to #1 in Canada in 1967 and also reached #7 in Australia.[6]
The song was reissued in 1974 as the B-side to "Young Girl." It went to #6 on the UK Singles Chart.[7]
