WMYL (96.7 FM, "Merle 96.7") is a radio station broadcasting a country music format.[1] Licensed to Halls Crossroads, Tennessee, USA, the station serves the Knoxville area. The station is currently owned by M & M Broadcasting.[2]
In 2006, Ron Meredith and M&M Broadcasting purchased WXJB, WFXY and WANO in Middlesboro, KY, Harrogate, TN and Pineville, KY, immediately spun off WFXY and WANO and changed the call letters to WMYL branded the station as Merle FM and moved it to Knoxville, TN licensed to Halls Cross Roads.
Since moving on to Knoxville, Merle FM has offered a mix of New and Old Country.
In 2013, WMYL Merle FM received its first nomination from the Academy of Country Music as Country Music Station of the year. Afternoon host Jack Ryan was also nominated as personality of the year.
