Uroš Račić (Serbian Cyrillic: Урош Рачић; born 17 March 1998) is a Serbian football midfielder who plays for Red Star Belgrade.[1]

Club career

Youth

Born in Kraljevo,[2] Račić passed OFK Beograd youth school. He was also licensed for the first team for the 2015–16 season.[3][4] After he scored a goal for youth team in a match against Red Star Belgrade for 4:1 win, Uroš moved in opponent team with his twin brother Bogdan and signed a three-year professional contract with Red Star on 13 March 2016.[5]

Red Star Belgrade

2015–16 season

Račić was promoted in the first team for the match against Vojvodina in 35 fixture of 2015–16 Serbian SuperLiga season. He spent that match sitting on the bench,[6] but will make his senior debut on 8 May 2016 in a friendly match against Olympiacos.[7][8] Račić made his SuperLiga debut in away match against Radnik Surdulica, played on 14 May 2016, when he replaced Aleksandar Katai in 80 minute.[9]

2016–17 season

In summer 2016, Račić played several matches with the first team during pre-season. Coach also Miodrag Božović used Račić as a centre-back, pairing him with Adam Mitchell at friendly match against Radomlje.[10] Račić noted his first official match in the 2016–17 replacing David Babunski in 60 minute of the 6th Serbian SuperLiga fixture game played on 21 August 2016. As a coincidence, the match was played against Radnik Surdulica, the same rival as he made his professional debut last season.[11] Račić also made his Serbian Cup debut against ČSK Čelarevo, in the first round match played on 21 September 2016, replacing John Jairo Ruiz in 80 minute of the game.[12][13] After he replaced injured Mihailo Ristić during the 17 fixture match against Metalac Gornji Milanovac,[13] Račić started his first senior match for Red Star Belgrade on the field in the next fixture match against Mladost Lučani, played on the Rajko Mitić Stadium, when he also assisted to Dušan Anđelković for a goal.[14]

International career

As a member of Serbia national under-18 football team Račić played several matches in 2016 and scored 1 goal against Armenia in a match played 15 March 2016.[15] In August 2016, Račić was called into Serbia U19 squad for memorial tournament "Stevan Vilotić - Ćele", where he debuted in opening match against United States.[16] Račić scored his first goal for U19 national team from a penalty kick, in a friendly match against Georgia, played on 8 October 2016.[17]
