PT Unilever Indonesia Tbk (IDX: UNVR) was established in Indonesia on December 5, 1933 as Lever Zeepfabrieken N.V., a subsidiary of Lever Brothers which initially operated a soap factory at Angke, Jakarta. The name was changed to Unilever Indonesia on July 22, 1980.

Unilever Indonesia has two subsidiaries, PT Anugrah Lever (in liquidation), and PT Technopia Lever[1] , a joint venture company with Technopia Singapore Pte. Ltd. PT Knorr Indonesia, another Unilever company, was absorbed into Unilever Indonesia by merger on July 4, 2004.[2]

Unilever Indonesia won a 2005 Energy Globe Award for their waste management scheme in villages near the river Brantas in Surabaya. The scheme involves compost organic waste and recycling, and has resulted in improved local water quality on the river.[3]

May 2011: PT Unilever Indonesia Tbk will invest at least Euro300 million ($427.4 million) in 2 years to expand factories at Cikarang, West Java and at Rungkut, East Java. Currently the company has operated 8 company-owned factories and 3 central distribution centers.[4]

PT Unilever Indonesia Tbk serves as part of Unilever Group N.V./plc to produce manufacture & supervise all of most Unilever brands (like Surf, Close-up, Clear etc. among others) & then serves to the Indonesian community.
