Thanjavur is a taluk of Thanjavur district of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. [1][2]

Overview

Within the tuluk are the municipality of Thanjavur and the towns of Nanjikottai, Vallam, Neelagiri, Pudupattinam, and Vilar.[1]

The headquarters of the taluk is the town of Thanjavur, which is also the seat of the district administration. It has two revenue blocks: Budalur and Thanjavur.

Demographics

According to the 2011 census, the taluk of Thanjavur had a population of 510,411 with 253,723 males and 256,688 females. There were 1012 women for every 1000 men. The taluk had a literacy rate of 78.51%. Of the children less than six years of age, 23,251 were male and 21,749 were female.[3]
