Stadium MRT Station (CC6) is an underground Mass Rapid Transit station on the Circle Line in Kallang, Singapore. The station was opened on 17 April 2010 along with the rest of Stages 1 & 2 of the Circle Line.
It serves the Singapore Sports Hub (which comprises the new National Stadium, the new Aquatic Centre, the new Kallang Wave Mall and the existing Singapore Indoor Stadium), Leisure Park Kallang and the Tanjong Rhu area. The station is named after the sport centres/stadiums in the vicinity. It is expected to have a high amount of passenger usage when there is a significant event in the Sport centres nearby. The station was designed by WOHA Architects that was awarded with the Design Of The Year of the President's Design Award 2010 for the station's design.[1] This station is also within the vicinity of Kallang and Mountbatten stations.
Since the opening of the Circle Line extension on 14 January 2012, trains from Marina Bay terminate at Platform A of this station during off-peak hours, proceed to perform a cross-over after the station and arrive at Platform B to return to Marina Bay.
