The South Sudanese passport is given to citizens of South Sudan for international travel. The Republic of South Sudan started issuing internationally recognized electronic passports in January 2012. [1] The passports were officially launched by the President Salva Kiir Mayardit on 3 January 2012 in a ceremony in the capital city of Juba. [2] The new passport will be valid for five years. [3]

Visa Requirements

According to the 2012 Visa Restrictions Index, South Sudan´s passport allows its carrier to enter 38 countries around the world without the need of previous visa arrangements. This locates this country´s passport rank 95 in freedom of movement.
