São Domingos is a town in the central part of the island of Santiago, Cape Verde. Its 2010 population was 2,818 making it the seventh most populated place on the island. It is situated 13 km southeast of Assomada and 13 km northwest of the capital Praia and located on the Praia-Assomada Road and is also bypassed since around 2008, it connects the route with the north of the island. It is the seat of the São Domingos Municipality.
The village was founded in the mid-16th century. The village was burned to the ground by Drake and his men[2] during the Capture of Santiago in 1585, its inhabitants fled at the time.
In 2010, a school named after Fulgéncio Lopes Tavares was opened.
Sporting clubs, mainly football (soccer) includes Os Garridos, the oldest and well known in the area and Andorinha. Up to 2003, they were in the Santiago Island League, after the breakup, they participated in the North Zone up to 2010, they are currently a part of the South Zone.

Its average temperature is 26 ° С, its temperature in April is 28 ° C and 23 ° С in January. Its average precipitation is 209 mm, 120 mm is fallen in September and only a millimeter is fallen in April

The fifth song of the album by Tito Paris Guilhermina (2002) is titled "Na Caminho di Sandomingos and is about riding on the road in and around the village.
