Museu Municipal de São Filipe (Portuguese for the São Filipe Municipal Museum) is a museum located in São Filipe in the western part of the Cape Verdean island of Fogo in the historic part of town. Its adjacent landmark is Nossa Senhora da Conceição (Our Lady of Conception) church, the parish seat and uphill is the town square which features a kiosk inside. The museum is also located some hundreds of meters from the Atlantic.

History

Located in what was a sobrado[1] - its architectural characteristic is of the colonial era. Other architecture features a stucco peach wall with aquamarine painted windows and balconies. The museum first opened on December 13, 2008, by the town president Eugênio Miranda da Veiga.[2] There is a plaque commemorating the museum's foundation.

The museohraphy was designed in collaboration of the technical team of Palmela Municipal (City) Museum of Portugal in honor of twinning of the two towns.

Inside the museum are two endemic plants of the island including Erysimum caboverdiana on the left and Echium vulcanorum on the right. Also a traditional hut is inside which is circular and featuring maroon walls and a straw roof.
