- In 1984 became the first Indian woman to reach the summit of Mount Everest[5]

- In 2016 Deepika Rathore achieved here second Mount Everest summiting (her first was in 2012) [6]
- Also in 2016, Suhail Sharma, and IPS officer summited[7]
- An all-girls 10-member expedition put some people on the summit.[8] This team did come across the stricken Bengal climbers and tried to help them a little.[9]
- An Indian team from Bengal suffered three fatalities.[10]
