Harshit Saumitra is the youngest Indian mountain climber to trek up to the Everest Base Camp at the age of 5 years 11 months.[1][2][3] Harshit spent 10 days trekking 45 miles to reach the Everest Base Camp at an altitude of 17,650 feet.[4]

Biography

Harshit was born on 18 November 2008 to Rajeev Neetu Saumitra.[4] He is a Grade 1 student of G D Goenka Public School.[5] Harshit started trekking at the age of 3.[4] On 17 October 2014, he trekked up to the Everest Base Camp (17,650 ft) and on 18 October 2014, he reached Kala Patthar Peak (18,519 ft) to become the youngest person to reach there.[6] Harshit was accompanied by his father Rajeev Saumitra along with two guides during his trekking.[7]
