Kappa Persei (Kappa Per, κ Persei, κ Per) is a star in the constellation Perseus.
This star belongs to the spectral class K0 and has apparent magnitude +3.8. It is 112 light years from Earth. Kappa Persei is a triple star system consisting of a spectroscopic double star with a wider companion.
Etyomology
- This star has the traditional name Misam.[1]
- In Chinese, 大陵 (Dà Líng), meaning Mausoleum, refers to an asterism consisting of κ Persei, 9 Persei, τ Persei, ι Persei, β Persei, ρ Persei, 16 Persei and 12 Persei. Consequently, β Persei itself is known as 大陵四 (Dà Líng sì, English: the Fourth Star of Mausoleum.).[2]
