Inchicore railway station was a proposed railway station intended as part of the DART Underground project.

History

As part of the original plan, the Interconnector tunnel would have risen to the surface just outside Dublin Heuston and continued towards Park West and Cherry Orchard.

However, in late 2008, Iarnród Éireann proposed extending the tunnel towards the railway lands at Inchicore Railway Works, so that the tunnelling process would have less impact on operations at one of Dublin's major railway termini. This would have also allowed for railway access from Inchicore directly into the centre of the city.
