French-Turkmen relations are foreign relations between France and Turkmenistan. Diplomatic relations between both countries were established on March 6, 1992. In France, have the Embassy of Turkmenistan, the Ambassador - Niyazov Chary Geldievich.[1] In Ashgabat have The Embassy of France, the Ambassador - Pierre Lebovich.

Both countries are full members of the OSCE and the UN.

History

Diplomatic relations were established on March 6, 1992 signing of the Protocol.

May 8, 1993 was meeting of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of France Alain Juppé with the first President of Turkmenistan Saparmurat Niyazov.

April 28, 1994 was the first official visit in the history of bilateral relations, French President François Mitterrand visited Ashgabat, where they held talks with Turkmenistan President Saparmurat Niyazov.

9–10 September 1996 was an official visit to France Saparmurat Niyazov, where he met with French President Jacques Chirac, the Prime Minister of France Alain Juppé and French Foreign Minister Herve de Charette.

10–13 April 2008 was visit of Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Bernard Kouchner to Central Asia, where during his visit to Turkmenistan opened a new building of the French Embassy in Ashgabat, with the presence of the Ambassador of France to Turkmenistan Christian Lechervy.

September 18, 2008 was the visit of Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov to France.

February 1, 2012 was the official visit of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to France where he held talks with French President Nicolas Sarkozy and the government delegations of the two countries.

October 7, 2012 President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov visited Paris, to attend as an honored guest at a prestigious horse race "Arc de Triomphe".

In March 2013 was the visit of the French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius to Ashgabat.

Economic cooperation

First appeared on the Turkmen market in 1994, the French construction company Bouygues, the company is the second largest in Turkmenistan signed contracts for the construction of buildings. French company Thales Alenia Space construction of the first space satellite TurkmenSat 1.
