Dai Xiangyu (Chinese: 戴向宇; pinyin: Dài Xiàngyǔ; Wade–Giles: Tai4 Hsiang4 Yü3, born 27 December 1984), previously known as Dai Yangtian (simplified Chinese: 戴阳天; traditional Chinese: 戴陽天; pinyin: Dài Yángtiān; Wade–Giles: Tai4 Yang2 T'ien1), is a Chinese actor and model based in Singapore.
Career
Born in China, Dai did some modeling in Japan and Shanghai. While in Shanghai he was talent-spotted by MediaCorp and moved to Singapore to sign the contract. His big break came in 2008 when he played Yamamoto Yousuke, a Japanese photographer, in the blockbuster series The Little Nyonya and earned a nomination for the Best Supporting Actor at the 2009 Star Awards. This is the first time he paired with Jeanette Aw.[1]
Dai paired the second time with Jeanette Aw in Together. Dai acted Yang Nian Qing's (Jeanette Aw) brother in Breakout. This is the third time Dai acted with Jeanette Aw. After the 2010 year-end blockbuster Breakout, Dai acted in Poetic Justice, where he was coupled with Rui En for the first time. He briefly returned to China to film a co-production drama Precious. He played Ling Zhi Chu in Precious.[2]
As of 29 July 2013, Dai has officially changed his name from Dai Yangtian to Dai Xiangyu.[3]
