Buttsville, Missouri

Buttsville is an unincorporated community in Grundy County, Missouri, United States.[1]

History

The origin of the name Buttsville is uncertain; the State Historical Society of Missouri speculates the community was named from the surname Butts.[2] A post office was established as Buttsville in 1855, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1902.[3] When the railroad was built through Grundy County but bypassed Buttsville, the community declined in importance.[4]
