Ahammad Uddin Shah Shishu Niketon School & College

Ahammad Uddin Shah Shishu Niketon School & College is a non-government educational institution in Gaibandha District, Bangladesh. It is one of the best educational institutions in the Northern part of Bangladesh.It was initially established in 1982. ^[1]

This institution was established in 1982.

Description

To keep pace with the modern system of scientific education some education-loving elite of Gaibandha Town started ‘Shishu Niketan, Gaibandha’ a Kinder Garten type schhol in the local Mahila College (now govt.) on January 24, 1982. Later on Shahjada Anwarul Quadir, a member of the School Managing Committee donated a piece of land at the Godown Road of the town and the school was transferred there in 1985. In the same year ‘Ahammad Uddin Shah Shishu Niketan Trust’ was formed and in recognition of the donation the school was renamed as ‘Ahammad Uddin Shah Shishu Niketan’.

The School was gradually upgraded to Junior, Secondary and Higher Secondary level in 1994, 1999 and 2002 respectively after which the school became ‘Ahammad Uddin Shah Shishu Niketan School and College.’

The institution has a brilliant academic success. It secured 5th and 14th position at the SSC Exams of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Dinajpur in 2010 and 2011 respectively. Besides it earned 100% success at the SSC and above 94% success at the HSC Examinations with a covetable number of GPA-5's for the past four years. In the field of Primary Scholarships the institute has almost monopoly success since its participation with and of Junior Scholarships it bags more than 50% of Sadar Upazilla's Quota every year.

The institution every year observes Annual Functions which includes observance of Foundation Day, Literary and Cultural Competitions, Prize giving ceremony etc. ‘Ahammad Uddin Shah’ prizes both medals and money all awarded to the highest scores of marks of class V, X and XII of the Annual and Test examinations. From next year such prize giving will be extended to all classes from Nursery to XII.^[2]

The institution has three different multistoried buildings.One is used for Primary School activities,one for Secondary School activities and the another building is used for college activities.^[3]
