Zamia pygmaea is a species of plant in the Zamiaceae family. It is endemic to Cuba. It is the smallest gymnosperm plant.It reaches only up to a height of 25 cm above the ground.[1] It has an underground tuberous stem.[1]

Common names

Zamia pygmaea has three common names, among which guayiga is the most common.Other names are comptie and Florida arrowroot.[2]
