Your Face Sounds Familiar is a singing and impersonation competition for celebrities and is based on the Spanish version of the same name. It first aired on March 14, 2015 in ABS-CBN. It is hosted by Billy Crawford; and for the second season, hosted by Melai Cantiveros, who served as Billy Crawford's co-host. Jed Madela, Gary Valenciano, and Sharon Cuneta served as the show's judges for the first two seasons.[1][2][3][4][5] Ogie Alcasid replaces Madela in the upcoming third season slated to premiere sometime in January 2017, replacing Pinoy Boyband Superstar.[6]

Development

The Philippine version was first announced by ABS-CBN in its trade show for advertisers in Rockwell Tent, Makati City. In this show, 8 celebrities will compete in a song and dance number while impersonating iconic singers. Each week, the "Iconizer" (called the "Randomizer" in other franchises) will assign the artists of whom they will impersonate.[2]

The show replaced the time slot of the second season of the The Voice of the Philippines which ended on March 1, 2015.[7]

On March 9, 2015, Sharon Cuneta made a comeback in ABS-CBN; one of her first projects would be to sit as a judge in the show with Madela and Valenciano.[4][8] In earlier announcements, Toni Gonzaga was reported to be one of the judges; however, she was replaced by Cuneta.[9]

On June 6, 2015, it was announced that the show will return for a second season, which premiered on September 12, 2015. It replaced the time slot of the second season of The Voice Kids.[10]

On August 15, 2016, Billy Crawford announced that the show will return for a third season.[11]

On November 22, 2016, Ogie Alcasid was revealed as the newest addition to the show's judging panel, replacing Madela in the third season.[12]

Format

For 12 weeks, all the celebrity contestants will compete for a cash prize, half of which will go to their chosen charity. The contestant with the highest points per week will become the weekly winner, and will receive 100,000 pesos. The top four contestants will compete for the public's votes, and the artist with the highest votes will be declared the winner.[13][14]

Prize

Every week the winner will win a cash prize of 100,000 pesos, half of which would be given to his or her chosen charity. The grand prize is 2 million pesos, half of which would be given to his or her chosen charity.[2][3]

Hosts

Billy Crawford serves as the host of the local version of Your Face Sounds Familiar. Melai Cantiveros, the winner of the first season, was added as Billy Crawford's co-host in the second season.[15]
