Yarmouk University (Arabic: جامعة اليرموك, also abbreviated YU) is a public university in Irbid in northern Jordan. It was established by a Royal Decree in 1976.
Academics
There are nine colleges in the university that offer graduate and undergraduate degrees:
- Faculty of Arts[2] established in 1976, The Faculty of Arts includes nine academic departments:
- Arabic Language and Literature
- English Language and Literature
- Modern Languages
- Semitic and Eastern Languages
- Translation

- Sociology and Social Work
- Political Sciences
- Geography
These departments offer B.A. programs. In addition to undergraduate programs, the Faculty offers M.A. programs in the Departments of Arabic Language and Literature, English Language and Literature, History, Sociology and Social Work, and Political Sciences. The faculty offers Ph.D. programs in the Department of Arabic Language and Literature and in the Department of History. The number of M.A. and Ph.D. students enrolled in the graduate programs of the faculty is 556 and 164, respectively (2009). The number of the Faculty teaching staff was 118 members, and that of its administrative employees was 28 in 2009.

Yarmouk University has an FM radio station that broadcasts 24/7 at the frequency 105.7 FM. The station Yarmouk FM broadcasts news, music, political, social, and academic programs, and weather forecast.[30]
