William Henry Bullock (April 13, 1927 – April 3, 2011) was an American prelate of the Roman Catholic Church who served as Bishop of the Diocese of Madison, Wisconsin from 1993 to 2003. At the time of his death, he was Bishop Emeritus.[1]
Biography
Early life and education
Born in Maple Lake, Minnesota, Bullock attended Saint Paul Seminary before being ordained a priest on June 7, 1952, for the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis. He taught religion for a number of years at Saint Thomas Military Academy (later renamed Saint Thomas Academy), an archdiocesan high school. He was also the Headmaster at St. Thomas Academy.
Auxiliary Bishop, St. Paul and Minneapolis
Bullock was appointed Auxiliary Bishop of the Saint Paul and Minneapolis Archdiocese and Titular Bishop of Natchesium on June 3, 1980, by Pope John Paul II, and was consecrated on August 12, 1980.
Bishop of Des Moines, Iowa
On February 10, 1987, he was appointed bishop of the Diocese of Des Moines by Pope John Paul II.
Bishop of Madison, Wisconsin
On April 13, 1993, Pope John Paul II appointed Bullock the third Bishop of the Diocese of Madison. On May 23, 2003, Bullock retired.[2][3]
