We Sing is a series of karaoke style singing games for console, originally for the Nintendo Wii but returning to Xbox One and Playstation 4 in 2016.[1]
The 2009 music video game series for the Wii. Developed by Le Cortex, produced by Wired Productions and published by Nordic Games (now THQ Nordic), was is the first singing game to support 4 players simultaneously each with their own microphone.[2]
The 2016 reboot of the game, supporting up to 10 singers[3] was announced by We Sing Productions (an interactive music formation encompassing the three original parties[4]) follows much of the original game style but was announced as a complete rebuild using the Unreal 4 engine alongside a studio quality audio pipeline in addition to the KaraEngine™ a propriety sing scoring engine co-developed by Le Cortex and Wired Productions.[5]
We Sing is distributed as a software only version (solus) or a two microphone and game bundle pack.[6]
There were 10 editions of the original series released for the Nintendo Wii included We Sing Encore (July 2010), We Sing Robbie Williams.[7] (July 22, 2010), We Sing Down Under, We Sing Deutsche Hits, We Sing Deutsche Hits 2, We Sing UK Hits, We Sing Rock, We Sing Pop and We Sing 80s.[1]
Gameplay
The gameplay is similar to the SingStar set of video games. Players are required to sing along with music in order to score points, matching pitch and rhythm. The game has anticheat technology whereby tapping or humming will register on the screen but no points will be awarded.

Peripherals
Due to hardware limitations with the Wii only having two USB ports, a USB hub is shipped with certain retail SKU's to add more USB ports. The game uses the standard Logitech USB microphone for the Wii.
We Sing later offered an official We Sing microphone peripheral, with a USB hub bundled inside the microphone twin pack.
We Sing Mic Companion App
Alongside We Sing for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, We Sing Productions announced the We Sing Mic companion app for Android and iOS - the app allows users to connect to the game through their home network to use their smartphone as a microphone for the game.

PR and marketing
The launch event for the UK market for We Sing took place at the main Game store on Oxford Street London on 19 November 2009. It was promoted by The X Factor girl group Miss Frank.[10]
Request Chart
On the website members can vote for songs to be considered on the next game. The Top 50 songs voted for is constantly changing on a daily basis.
The Request Chart features songs from The Black Eyed Peas, Beyoncé, The Beatles, ABBA, Village People, Eminem, Billie Piper, Glee Cast and Pet Shop Boys.
Series
On May 13, 2010, Nordic Games Publishing announced that they would be releasing the next in the We Sing series, titled We Sing Encore.[11] The game will feature 40 new songs, additional single and multiplayer modes, as well as an award system and singing lessons mode.
On July 22, 2010, Nordic Games Publishing announced that a Robbie Williams edition of We Sing would be released, titled We Sing Robbie Williams.[7] The game is mentioned to have 25 songs from the artist and is set to release with the artist's greatest hits album due for release in October 2010.
