Washington Street is a surface stop on the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA)'s Green Line "B" Branch, located in Brighton, Boston. The station is located in the median of Commonwealth Avenue northeast of Washington Street. Washington Street station consists of two side platforms, which serve the "B" Branch's two tracks.
Washington Street is the fifth-busiest "B" Branch surface station (after Harvard Avenue, Packards Corner, BU Central, and Warren Street), and has a circumferential bus connection, making it an important transfer point and a priority to retrofit for handicapped accessibility. Its platforms were raised in 2002 to interface with low-floor trams, making the station fully handicapped-accessible.
