WNYV (94.1 FM) is a radio station broadcasting an Adult contemporary music/Full-Service format (from 5:30AM through 12:00AM ET). Licensed to Whitehall, New York, USA, the station serves the Saratoga, New York area. The station is currently owned by Pine Tree Broadcasting Company. WNYV and its AM sister, WVNR in Poultney, simulcast 100% of the time and go by the on-air slogan of "Lakes Region Radio". WVNR/WNYV are unusual in that while these stations are authorized to broadcast 24 hours a day, the stations sign-off every day at midnight (broadcasting for approximately 18½ hours per day).
WNYV has arguably the most underrated FM broadcast signal in western Vermont and eastern New York. WNYV throws a strong signal over Glens Falls, Saratoga, Middlebury, Vermont, and Brandon VT, and almost reaches into Albany. A small mountain range inhibits the signal from reaching clearly into Rutland, though the signal is very listenable in the west-facing hills of Rutland.
WVNR/WNYV are very unusual radio stations in that they are almost totally staffed live when they are on the air. WVNR/WNYV are very community-minded radio stations, providing information about local events, and broadcasting live from many of them.
The music format can be categorized as adult contemporary, but the stations play a wide variety with the DJs actually picking the music that is being played, using charted hits from the 50's through the current year. Hits from past top-40 charts, country, rock, and adult contemporary can all be heard.
The stations do local news breaks at the top of every hour, and weather 4 times an hour.
WVNR/WNYV broadcast live from local high school and local college sports contests, providing a full schedule of coverage.
WVNR and WNYV broadcast 18 hours and 30 minutes (18½ hours) per day, signing off at midnight (staying on the air from 5:30AM through 12:00AM ET).[1]
