Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya

Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya commonly referred as VKV is a school which is set up under the project Vivekananda Kendra Siksha Prasar Vibhag. VKSPV which is run by Vivekananda Kendra (a Hindu spiritual organisation based on the principles preached by Swami Vivekananda) with its headquarters at Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu. VKVs have been Gyan-Yagna started by Maneneeya Shri. Ekanathji Ranade. Vidyalaya is a sanskrit word which means School. The schools are operated with a motive of Man-Making & Nation Building.

Schools

There are total 64 VKVs providing man-making education for tribal and rural children in Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Assam, Andamans, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka for approximately 20000 children in remote area to impart education on Swami Vivekananda's thoughts like "Education is the manifestation of perfection already in man.", "If the poor boy can't come to education, education must go to him", etc.
