Visavadar (विसावदर) is a city and a municipality in Junagadh district in the Indian state of Gujarat.

Geography

Visavadar is located at 21°23′N 70°41′E / 21.38°N 70.68°E / 21.38; 70.68.[1] It has an average elevation of 91 metres (298 feet).

Demographics

As of 2001 India census,[2] Visavadar had a population of 18,048. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Visavadar has an average literacy rate of 71%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 77%, and female literacy is 65%. In Visavadar, 12% of the population is under 6 years of age.

The former Chief Minister of Gujarat and the founder of Gujarat Parivartan Party, Keshubhai Patel fought 2012 state assembly election from Visavadar Constituency.

Former Visavadar MLA was Kanubhai Bhalala, elected in assembly election 2008.

Visavadar is Taluka (Tahesil) Place.

Holy places

Satadhar is a holy place dedicated to Aapa Giga, the famous Saint of Visavadar.[3]

Tulsishyam, a famous 'Garam Pani no Zaro' (a hot water sulphur sprint) is near Visavadar.

From visavadar 32 km away Kankai (gir) which located in Jungle it is center of jungle

Education

In Visavadar there are many primary schools like Navyug Vidyalaya, Vivekanand Primary School, Nobel School, Bharmal School.

There are many high schools like N.C. Parmar Girls High School, Swaminarayana Gurukul, Boys school , NAGAR PANCHAYAT HIGH SCHOOL(MUNICIPAL CORPORATION ).

There is a college in Visavadar which is named Devmani Arts and Commerce College.

The fort of Bava Wala was in Visavadar. Satadhar temple is also only 7 km away from Visavadar.

Visavadar is known as gateway to Sasan Gir Forest.
