Fuego (singer)

Miguel A. Duran, Jr. (born September 24, 1981)^[1] better known by his stage name Fuego (English: Fire) ^[2] is a merengue singer-songwriter and founder of his label Fireboy Music, currently signed to Pitbull's, record Label Mr. 305 Inc..

Early life

Duran was born to Dominican parents on September 24 in Washington, D.C. and was raised in Langley Park, Maryland. He grew up listening to his father's instrumental harmonies and listening to the cling and the clatter of the timbales in salsa and Merengue on a vinyl LP in his living room, Growing up on Spanish Tropical music at home Fuego learned to appreciate big Latin legends such as Frankie Ruiz, Juan Luis Guerra and Hector Lavoe, While on his own at school and with his friends he developed an appreciation for American rappers such as 2Pac, The Notorious B.I.G. and Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, as the years went by Fuego's parents had sent him to Dominican Republic where he visited frequently and even attended school for a couple of years, His brother Rickylindo and him grew to love the culture as if they had been born there and mixed it with their Americanized lifestyle in their music, in the late 90's Fuego formed part of a group called 3men2 (Tremendo) along with his Friends and his Brother started a local movement and performing at local venues, In the later years the group separated and the members went different ways, In the early 2000s Duran meet DJ Menace who was one of the first local djs to play Latin music an introduce Reggaeton to the Washington, DC Area [DMV] [DC, Maryland, Virginia], Menace founded Migo Productions and booked Fuego shows around the area and helped get exposure and he began to get recognition among the people, in 2003 Menace died in a car accident, Fuego was struck by the news of his friends passing but he used it as another reason to keep moving forward, In 2004 Fuego was booked as an opening act to Reggaeton concert at a local night club where Daddy Yankee and Reggaeton Duo Plan B were headlining, During Fuego's performances that night he sang "Aqui Con Migo" While a member of Plan B; Chencho watched him perform, he was shocked by Duran's talent an to see how the crowd was sining along word for world.^[3]

Career

2005-11: Chosen few & La Musica Del Futuro

In 2005 with the help of Chencho from Reggaeton duo Plan B, he was featured in a compilation album (El Draft 2005) with his song "Me Gustan Todas",^[4] After he was part of "El Draft Del Reggaeton" he was signed to "Chosen Few Emerald Entertainment, Inc",^[5] in 2007 "Hustlin Time" featuring Rick Ross was released to promote Chosen Few III: The Movie. In 2008 Fuego scored his first big hit "Mi Alma Se Muere" which was the lead single to Chosen Few III: The Movie.^[6] "Mi Alma Se Muere" Remix featuring Pitbull & Omega "El Fuerte" was released later that year, and the remix peaked at No. 22 with over 24 weeks on the Top 100 Billboards Tropical.^[7] In 2009, he released "Super Estrella" featuring Omega "El Fuerte" which was the first single to his debut album La Musica del Futuro. In December 2009, his second single was released "Que Buena Tu Ta" featuring Deevani which peaked at No. 2 on the Top 100 Billboards Tropical for 12 weeks.^[8] In 2010 two remixes to "Que Buena Tu Ta" were released one featuring Serani and a Dominican version featuring Mozart La Para, Black Point, Sensato del Patio, Los Pepes, Monkey Black and Villanosam.In April 2010, Fuego released his third single "Ya Te Olvide" and in June 2010 Fuego an online release titled "Una Vaina Loca" (which samples Gyptian's "Hold Yuh"). By 2011, "Una Vaina Loca" became an international hit with more than 30 million plays on YouTube. Fuego's debut album La Musica del Futuro was released on August 3, 2010 (CD/Digital) and peaked at No. 36 in the Billboards Top Latin Albums. He was nominated for Premio Lo Nuestro 2011 in the category Revelacion del año urbano.

2012-14 Touring & Fireboy Forever 'The Mixtape'

In 2012 Fuego spent many months touring around the world visiting many countries in Europe, Central America, South America & North America. In December 2012, Fuego prepared the release of his new single "Mala Mia". In February 2013 Fuego released the Music Video to his first single "Mala Mia". Around the same time in February 2013 Fuego suffered the passing of his Mother which caused him to slow down a little in his career, later that year in August 2013 he was featured on the Mambo Remix to Jencarlos Canela's "I Love It" which was produced by Bones El Galactico, In October 2013, he released A second single tilted "Prendelo". In March 2014 Fuego released the official music video to his single "Prendelo", In Late April 2014 Fuego also released via internet "U La La" a Reggaeton record produced by Scarspro and Don Omar's Producers A&X (Alcover & Xtassy), In early May 2014 Fuego's single "Prendelo" Peaked #7 on the Latin Tropical Billboards Chart,^[9] On Christmas Day December 25, 2014, Fuego released his Mixtape titled "Fireboy Forever: The Mixtape" which included 19 songs along with collaborations with Sensato, Farruko, Rickylindo, Notch, Dynasty "The Prince of Dance Hall" , Zion y Lennox amongst others.

2015-2015: New Music & Creating Fireboy Forever 2

In Early May 2015 Fuego released "iLike" which is produced by Dj Chino (Pitbull's Deejay), In Early June 2015 Fuego released his Reggaeton single "Solos" which was produced by Scarspro & Jaeycol Federal, In Mid June 2015 Fuego teamed up with Colombian Female Artist Fanny Lu and released the song "Quiero Reir" which is a Merengue Electronico produced by no other than Maffio^[10] In Early July 2015 Fuego landed a collaboration & feature on Pitbull's Spanish Album DALE which was released on July 17, 2015 with the song "Mami Mami" (Track 6)^[11]

In mid August 2015 Fuego announces via his social media pages that he was working on "Fireboy Forever 2 : The Album"

In Late August 2015 Fuego Covered/Remixed Drake's smash hit Hotline Bling with a twist in Spanish calling it "Cuando Suena El Bling" becoming a hit on Soundcloud which quickly got picked up by few blogs an websites even calling it "Better Than Drake's".^[12] "a Spanish version of 'Hotline Bling' that will make your Monday better" - Más Sun Times.^[13] Among some of the blogs & sites Paper Magazine Ranked it number 2 on their "Who Is The Hotline King; Ranking The best & Worst Covers of '"Hotline Bling" and it being the only Spanish Cover/Remix on their ranking'.^[14] Noisey Music (Vice) Ranked it number 3 on their "Top Hotline Bling Remixes List" making it again the only Spanish Cover/Remix to be on their ranking'.^[15] The Hundreds (Brand) Placed it number 3 on their "10 TRACK COMMANDMENTS, VOL. 6 :: Sh*t You Shouldn’t Sleep On".^[16] "Cuando Suena El Bling" got so much attention that Noisey Music (Vice) wrote up an article breaking down the remix how it was created and what were some of Fuego's influences behind his work.^[17]

Following the success of the previous Cover/Remix on September 13, 2015 Fuego released another one this time Yo Gotti's & Young Thug's smash hit "Rihanna" flipping it in Spanish with its catchy hook "Conoci una Rihanna y le gusta mi persona soy como Tony Montana", The remix became a hit on SoundCloud once again, on September 16 Blogsite Remezcla picked up the song and wrote an article about how "Fuego Bodies His Spanish remix of Rihanna" also adding "This rework might just be better than Young Thug’s English version, since we can’t understand what Young Thug is saying anyway.".^[18] on September 20 the remix landed on Noisey Music (Vice) radar adding it to their Weekly show on Apple's Music Beats 1 Radio "EPISODE 12 OF VICE ON BEATS 1".^[19]

On October 5, 2015 Fuego's "Quiero Reir" record with Colombian Artist Fanny Lu reached the number 1 position on Venezuela's National Report Chart in its Top Latino Category and in the general chart at a National Level ^[20]

On October 11, 2015 Fuego released another Remix this time he turned Majid Jordan's & Drake's "My Love" into a Spanish cover calling it "Mi Amor" Website Remezcla was quicky to pick it up and give Fuego the crown of the "undisputed king of Spanish remixes" the article goes on to say that "Fuego continues making the type of remixes that are needed for a Spanish-speaking hip-hop-loving audience." ^[21]

On October 16, 2015 Fuego released "Loca Con La Vaina" the official single to his new Album "Fireboy Forever 2". The song which is a Spanish Trap/Hip Hop record with heavy base was produced by Luyo & Capi of the Associates.

On October 29, 2015 Fuego released "Mambo Para Bailar" which is a Merengue Electronico produced by Maffio ^[22]

On November 16, 2015 Fuego released "Antidito" a Spanish Remix to Travis Scott's song "Antidote"

On December 1st 2015 Fuego released the music video to "Cuando Suena El Bling" his Spanish Version of "Hotline Bling" ^[23]

On December 29, 2015 Fuego released two songs via Soundcloud/YouTube; the first one was "Se Me Nota" off his upcoming album "Fireboy Forever 2" a Trap with Bachata influences which was produced by Sango Beats, later that day Fuego released the official remix to his song "Mambo Para Bailar" featuring Puerto Rican Reggaeton artist Arcangel produced by Maffio.

2016-Present: Fireboy Forever 2 & Tropical Billboards

Fuego started 2016 with anticipating his album "Fireboy Forever 2" which was scheduled to be released on January 12th, 2016. With the releases of "Loca Con La Vaina" & "Se Me Nota" in 2015 as it's singles; "Diferente" was premiered visually with a Music Video via YouTube on January 7th before the actual audio was available which was scheduled to debut with the album on January 12th, 2016.
