Victoria Day is a public holiday in parts of Scotland such as Dundee, Edinburgh, Paisley, Livingston and Perth. Also this year in the Standhill area of Bathgate. It is celebrated on the last Monday before or on 24 May. Schools and many shops are closed on Victoria Day, but it is not a bank holiday, meaning that government offices and banks remain open.[1][2]
The Victoria Day holiday commemorates Queen Victoria's birthday (Queen Alexandrina Victoria; 24 May 1819 – 22 January 1901).
It is also a holiday in Canada, celebrated at the same time.
