University of Rojava
The University of Rojava is a university established within the de facto Federation of Northern Syria – Rojava in the city of Qamishli in Syria by the Jazira Canton Board of Education. It was founded in July 2016, with faculties for Medicine, Engineering, Sciences, and Arts and Humanities. Programs taught include health, oil, computer and agricultural engineering; physics, chemistry, history, psychology, geography, mathematics and primary school teaching and Kurdish literature.[1][2] Its language of instruction being Kurdish, the university has an agreement with Paris 8 University in France for cooperation.
In August 2016, the University of Rojava opened registration for students in the academic year 2016-2017.[3] On 20 November 2016, an opening ceremony marked the start of teaching.[4]
