Under-19 World Lacrosse Championships

The Under-19 World Lacrosse Championships (U-19's) are held separately for men and women about every four years to honor the world champions for the under-19 age group in lacrosse. The 2008 men's U-19 championship was sanctioned by the International Lacrosse Federation (ILF). The women's championship was sanctioned by the International Federation of Women's Lacrosse Associations (IFWLA). In August 2008, the two bodies merged to form the Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL).

These championships were first held for men in 1988 and for women in 1995. They have only been held in the same year twice and both times in the same country; however, the 2003 U-19 tournament was the first championship held jointly with the ILF and IFWLA. The United States has won the FIL/ILF U-19 tournament every single year it has been held along with the IFWLA U-19 tourneys.

The 2012 men's tournament was held in Turku, Finland, with the U.S. winning the title, defeating Canada 10-8, despite a pair of pool-play losses to Canada and the Iroquois Nationals. The Iroquois finished third after an 18–1 win over England. The 2008 men's championship was held in July 2008 in Coquitlam, British Columbia, and was won again by the United States. The next championship for men will be held July 7–16, 2016, again in Coquitlam, British Columbia, just outside Vancouver, Canada. For more information, visit .[1]
