Two X (Korean: 투엑스; acronym for Top Win One multiplied by 4 (X)) is a South Korean girl group formed by J. Tune Camp in 2012. The group consists of Jiyou, Eun, Surin, and Eunyoung. They debuted on August 16, 2012 at MNET M Countdown. Their debut EP "Double Up" was released on August 20, 2012.

History

Pre-debut

Prior to their debut, some members of Two X also worked as soundtrack singers for drama and backup dancers of 2NE1, BIGBANG, GD & TOP, Rain, Seven, Girls Generation, and Super Junior. In July, MBLAQ confirmed that their agency was currently creating a girl group, and soon after revealed that J.Tune Camp was preparing to debut a girl group consisting of five members: Jiyoo, Minjoo, Eun, Surin and Eunyoung. No photographs of the group were revealed until the opening of the Two X daum fan cafe.

2012-13: Debut with "Double Up" and "Ring Ma Bell"

On August 16, 2012, Two X made their stage debut on the music program M Countdown. Their debut EP, "Double Up", was released on August 20. The EP spawned a single, "Double Up", which is Synthpop, i.e. electric guitar and harmonized voices.

Two X revealed their musical comeback video for their new single, "Ring Ma Bell." In their new self-titled album, there are three songs about different ways to confess love. "Ring Ma Bell" is the work of producer Rado. Unlike their debut, the song is based on the image of a young girl and better fits into the genre of electro pop. On Valentine's Day, the album was launched and the group made their return to the stage on M Countdown MNET.

The video for "Ring Ma Bell" features the girls dressed in brightly colored clothes in a cloud setting.

2014-15: Label changes, Hiatus and Minjoo's departure

In 2014, Two X ended their contract with J. Tune Camp and signed a contract with Star Gaze Entertainment.

Star Gaze Entertainment has stated that Two X is preparing to make a comeback in the middle of their international activities, and despite the controversy of being hired by foreign companies, and the possible breakup of the group. Their planned comeback was postponed for unknown reasons. The group later focused on activities in China after signing to a new agency.

On September 19, 2015, it was announced in a statement on various social networks Minjoo left the group for health reasons.

Star Gaze Entertainment left a statement on the official website of the group on the departure of Minjoo: "After much consideration, Minjoo has decided to take a break because of health problems. After speaking with her directly, SG fully respects any decision made by Minjoo and we agree that it is for the best that she withdraw from the Group in order to focus on her health."

Star Gaze Entertainment noted that Two X will continue to promote as a group of four. In the future, Two X will expand from their focus on Korea and Hong Kong to China and Southeast Asia.

2016: Return with 4 members

On August 17, 2016, Star Gaze announced Two X would return August 23 with a retro song titled "Over".
