Trivedi Mewada Brahmin Barishi
Trivedi Mewada Brahmin also known as Tarvadi Mewada Brahmin or Trivedi Mewada Brahman is a sub caste of Brahmin people from north east Gujarat.
Etymology
this brahman community belong to Pancha Gauda Brahmin.The Name Trivedi Mewada Brahmin stands for Brahmins who migrated from Mewad between the 14th and 15th centuries, due to loss of king against the foreign allied kingdoms.Trivedi Mewada Brahmin, Migrated from Mewad, Rajasthan during time of Great King Rana pratap to Gujarat some 434 years ago.
i.e. 1576 to 1590 (since the Battle of Haldighati happened during June, 1576). But prior to that only as a precautionary steps King Rana Pratap has requested Brahmin Community to migrate to safe place (being Akbar was Muslim emperor and may take wrong steps on Brahmin Community, since Brahmin were doing all Prayers for GOD in those days). But King Rana Pratap requested that you should be continue worshiping Eklingji Mahadev only. Which is still continued by all Mewada Brahaman Community. Barishi (baar meaning twelve in Gujarati and rishi meaning sage in Sanskrit) refers to the villages in which the twelve Brahmins settled and now these collective of twelve villages are known as Trivedi Mewada Brahmin Barishi. The community lived in south rajasthan is divided in region called "chokhla" . They are Wagad, chappan, Pathok, Chourasi,Tarpot,jawas,Uti,Mewal.
