Tripping.com is a search engine for vacation rentals. It currently aggregates over 5 million listings in more than 100,000 cities worldwide.[1] Tripping.com partners with several major vacation rental sites like Interhome and Novasol, allowing users to easily compare vacation rentals across providers.

Company description

Tripping.com was founded in 2009 by Nate Weisiger and Jen O’Neal, both former employees of StubHub,[2] and Jeff Manheimer, a travel industry professional with experience at Hyatt and TravelZoo. It is based in San Francisco.

Tripping.com has a business partnership with AARP.[3]

In 2011, Quest Venture Partners invested USD 450,000 in Tripping.com, bringing total investment to over USD 1,000,000 in seed money and bringing Tripping.com out of beta version.[4] In 2012 Tripping.com pivoted to become a metasearch site for vacation rentals.[5]

On May 19, 2014, the company closed its Series A funding round with an undisclosed amount. Business Insider reports the round was in the $5 million to $10 million range.[6]

On July 28, 2015, the company closed its round of Series B funding at $16 million USD.[7] Steadfast Venture Capital led the round, which also included 7 Seas Venture Partners, Enspire Capital, Azure Capital, Fritz Demopoulos (founder of Qunar), Erik Blachford (former CEO of Expedia), Monte Koch, Drew Goldman, Brendan Wallace, Richard Chen, and Shawntae Spencer (former NFL athlete).[8]

Model

Tripping.com is an aggregator which allows users to search and compare vacation and short-term rentals from a host of major suppliers. Tripping.com currently partners with top rental sites including HomeAway, VRBO, FlipKey, Housetrip, Interhome, Roomorama, Booking.com, Wimdu, ZenRentals, Bedycasa, WayToStay, Gloveler, HolidayVelvet, 9Flats.com, AlwaysOnVacation, RedAwning, and Housetrip. Users can search by price, ratings, location and a long list of features and amenities.

In August 2015 Tripping.com debuted on-site booking for Booking.com properties. It is the first vacation rental metasearch website to offer this service.[9]
