Transported by Design
Transported by Design is a programme of activities which aims to raise awareness of the importance of both physical and service design in London’s transport network. The 18-month long campaign showcases and celebrates how design has helped shape London’s sophisticated, integrated transport system as known today.[1][2]
In 15 October 2015, after two months of public voting, 10 favourite transport design icons were elected by Londoners.[3][4][5] The winners, selected among 100 options, were the black cab, the work of Frank Pick, Harry Beck’s original tube map, Baker Street underground station platforms, the roundel, the original Routemaster bus, Mark Wallinger’s labyrinth, the RT type bus, the new S-Stock trains and the Westminster Underground Station.[6][7][8]
This partnership between Transport for London and the London Transport Museum is showcasing transport design through exhibitions,[9][10][11] walks,[12] the launch of a new uniform for London Underground in November 2015[13][14] and a festival, which will take place at Regent Street in 3 July 2016[15][16][17]
The programme is sponsored by Exterion Media[18][19]
