Water transport
Bihar is connected by National Waterways No. 1 which established in October 1986. This National Waterways has fixed terminals at Haldia, BISN (Kolkata), Pakur, Farrakka and Patna. This National Waterways has also floating terminals facilities at Haldia, Kolkata, Diamond Harbour, Katwa, Tribeni, Baharampur, Jangipur, Bhagalpur, Semaria, Doriganj, Ballia, Ghazipur, Varanasi, Chunar and Allahabad.
Air transport
Patna airport is connected to Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Lucknow, and Ranchi. It is categorized as a restricted international airport, with customs facilities to receive international chartered flights. Gaya Airport, airport is a small international airport connected to Colombo, Singapore, Bangkok and more. Air Deccan (Delhi, Kolkata), Jetlite (Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Ranchi), Indian (Delhi, Ranchi) and Jet Airways (Delhi) are the main [airlines] which are operating from Patna airport. In 2009, Patna airport registered a 42.8 per cent growth on aircraft movement, the highest in the country, handling 7,456 flights compared to 5,220 in 2008-09.[1] Weekly Shared Chartered Plane Service between Patna and Kolkata via Purnea is also available at affordable rates.[2]
