The Duke of Norfolk
Noble family House of Howard
Father Henry Howard, 22nd Earl of Arundel
Mother Elizabeth Stuart
Born 9 March 1627
Died 13 December 1677

Thomas Howard, 5th Duke of Norfolk (9 March 1627 13 December 1677) was an English noble.

He was born to Henry Frederick Howard, 22nd Earl of Arundel and Lady Elizabeth Stuart. On the petition of almost the whole of the House of Lords the dukedom of Norfolk was recreated and given to him in 1660.[1] The 5th Duke was considered mentally deficient and never married: he spent much of his life in a private asylum in Padua.[2] The duties of Earl Marshal were exercised by his brother, Sir Henry Howard, who, in 1677, succeeded him as Duke.[3] Another brother, Philip, became a Catholic cardinal.
