The Virginian is a 1914 American silent western film based upon the novel The Virginian by Owen Wister. The film was adapted from the successful 1904 theatre play Wister had collaborated on with playwright Kirke La Shelle. The Virginian starred Dustin Farnum[1] in the title role [2] and was directed by Cecil B. DeMille.[3]
