The Underground Railroad is a 2016 novel by American author Colson Whitehead. It tells the story of Cora and Caesar, two slaves who make a bid for freedom from their Georgia plantations by following the Underground Railroad.[1]
This was Whitehead's sixth published novel, and it received the National Book Award for Fiction in 2016.[1]When it was published in the United States in August 2016, it was selected for Oprah's Book Club.[2]
