The Pale Pacific (formerly The Pale) is an indie rock/powerpop band based in Bellingham, Washington.[1] The band has released 4 full-length LPs, 1 EP, 1 split, and 1 full-length live recording. They are best known for the LPs Gravity Gets Things Done and Urgency, released worldwide on SideCho Records. The band has not broken up, but it rarely plays shows, and is currently finishing up a brand new full-length recording. As all four members have been busy doing many other things in recent years, the record was written at weekly sessions and has been recorded in their free time. Drummer Greg Swinehart recently spoke of the recording process at Sloucher.org, saying it's close to completion, but too soon to announce a release date. The band confirmed further on Facebook that they were still in the recording phase as of December 24, 2015.
The Pale Pacific has essentially been many different bands that has only changed its name once. It began as a collaboration between Gabe Archer and his cousin Cameron Nicklaus. With Archer on piano/keyboards and Nicklaus on drums, the two started out writing and performing songs that sounded like their favorite bands: The Cure, Depeche Mode and U2.
