The New Tragedies
The New Tragedies is an Indie-pop band from Kansas City, Missouri.
The band was formed in 2003, by singer/songwriter Aaron Weidner, after Weidner's previous band The Paper Hearts went on hiatus. Bev Blann, formerly a member of Tyko, joined the band in 2004 and soon married Weidner.
Influences include Ida, The Shins, Low, Nick Drake, Red House Painters and Mark Kozelek to name a few. Their sound is similar to Gin Blossoms with a splash of Portishead and Mazzy Star, but the couple's harmonies are a unique blend of Pop-folk and Indie music.
