The Lamplighter School is a nonsectarian co-ed day school located in Dallas, Texas, USA. The School offers grades Pre-K – 4 and is accredited by the Independent Schools Association of the Southwest.

History

The Lamplighter School was founded in 1953 in a farmhouse on Churchill Way in North Dallas by Natalie Murray and Marieta "Sandy" Swain. During its first year, classes were offered only in kindergarten and first grade. Other classes and grade levels were added over the years, leading to an enrollment of 400+ by the mid-1960s. In 1969, the school moved to its current location. The school has since completed several expansions, including a fine arts wing and gymnasium.

The land which the current location is on was owned by and leased from The Hockaday School. In 2011 The Lamplighter School purchased the land from Hockaday for $12.5 million.[1]
