The Downtown
The Downtown was a music venue in Farmingdale, New York that operated from December 2001 to September 2005.
The venue, located on 190 Main Street in Farmingdale, opened on December 21, 2001, and quickly became one of the most popular venues on Long Island. It also developed its own line of clothing.
Artists who performed at the venue include Anthrax, Living Colour, Bad Brains, King's X, Twisted Sister, King Diamond, Bile, Napalm Death, Murphy's Law, Pigmy Love Circus, The Reverend Horton Heat, Todd Rundgren, Adrian Belew, Dick Dale, Tower of Power, Jewel, Colin Hay, The Alarm, and The Psychedelic Furs, as well as comedians and spoken word performers such as Robert Schimmel and Henry Rollins.
On September 19, 2005, the Downtown announced its immediate closure and cancelation of upcoming shows.[1][2]
