History

The Bomb Factory Art Foundation is situated in a Victorian warehouse in Archway, North London. Over the years the building had been used in a myriad of ways, most infamously during The Second World War when it became a fully functioning munitions factory. Located by the main roundabout at the top of Holloway Road, the surrounding area was heavily bombed in an attempt to destroy the building; however the original shell remained intact.

In 2014, the space was designated for development, and The Bomb Factory was founded in response to the growing need for affordable studio spaces[2] for contemporary artists, along with the desire to establish a new arts centre and cultural hub in North London. The Bomb Factory Art Foundation opened its doors in January 2015.[3]
