Naam Tamilar Katchi (நாம் தமிழர் கட்சி)
Naam Tamilar Katchi is a political party in Tamil Nadu. On 18 May 2010, a year after the military subjugation of the Eelam Tamils and on the first anniversary of the organisation, the Naam Tamilar Iyakkam was converted into the Naam Tamilar Katchi, with Seeman the Chief Coordinator of the Party stating that the party would be an alternate political party different from the mainstream political outfits and also claiming that the establishment of an independent Tamil Eelam would be the moral goal of not just the party but Tamils in Tamil Nadu.
On 12 February 2016, all 234 Naam Tamilar Katchi candidates were introduced in Cuddalore on a stage by its leader Seeman. On 23 March 2016, Naam Tamilar Katchi published its Election Manifesto 2016. The party promote equal rights and has also included candidates with disabilities. It is the first party in the history of Tamil Nadu with a transgender candidate. However, the party was seen losing deposit in all seats.
Other political parties
Manithaneya Makkal Katchi is a political party in Tamil Nadu, India, founded by TMMK and focused on the Muslim community Tamil Nadu Muslim Munnetra Kazagham – TMMK (Tamil Nadu Muslim Development Party) has been tirelessly working for the well being of marginalized societies of Tamil Nadu. Though started as a pan-Muslim outfit, it served all sections of Tamil society.
Starting from the 1990s, caste based politics is on the rise in Tamil Nadu. Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) party deriving strength from vanniars, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katch (VCK) party based on Dalit votes and Puthiya Thamilagam based on another sect of Dalits have been gaining prominence in Tamil Nadu. These parties have been gaining modest electoral success and slowly eating into traditional vote banks of DMK and AIADMK. Recently an outfit supporting Kongu Vellala Gounders also joined this list, a caste decides electoral victories in West Tamil Nadu, with the launch of their own political party Kongunadu Munnetra Peravai (KMP) in February 2009.
