Talouselämä (meaning Economic Life in English) is a Finnish language weekly financial and business magazine published in Helsinki, Finland.
History and profile
Talouselämä was established by Finnish businessmen in 1938.[1][2] The magazine is published weekly by Talentum Media Oy.[3][4] The company also publishes Tekniikka ja Talous.[5]
The headquarters of Talouselämä is in Helsinki.[6] Until the 1980s the magazine was the only dominant business weekly in the country.[1] The magazine provides financial news, including the origins and possible impacts of financial events.[7] It also publishes reviews and research about Finnish companies and society.[7] The magazine has several supplements, including Talouselämä Uratie.[8]
In December 2010 Talouselämä started a lifestyle magazine, Talouselämä Platinum, which is delivered to its subscribers.[4]
Pekka Seppanes served as the editor-in-chief of the magazine.[6] From 2000 to 2008 Terho Puustinen served in the post.[9] The editor-in-chief is Reijo Ruokanen who was appointed to the post in September 2010.[2][3] In August 2013 he also became the editor-in-chief of Fakta, another magazine published by Talentum.[10]
Circulation
Talouselämä had a circulation of 78,804 copies in 2002.[6] Its circulation was 79,000 copies in 2007.[11] The 2009 circulation of the weekly was 79,684 copies,[12] making it the third most read business magazine in Finland.[13] The magazine had a circulation of 79,406 copies in 2010.[14] Its circulation was 80,800 copies in 2011.[14][15] The circulation of the magazine was 80,868 copies in 2012.[7][14] It rose to 81,280 copies in 2013.[16][17] The same year it had a total of 184,000 readers.[16]
